Kanna Ravi, the Tamil actor, is popular for his roles in the films 'Kaithi' and 'Coolie'. The talented actor has just delivered his next, and the web series titled 'Veduvan' featuring the actor in the lead role is streaming now on Zee 5. The series, released ahead of
Diwali, has been receiving praise from critics and fans on social media to gain regular attention. On the special occasion, Kanna Ravi interacted with ETimes to share some interesting stories behind the making of the web series and his film career.
Inspiration behind Sooraj and team effort on set
Kanna Ravi feels happy to be impressing fans for one more time as his performance in 'Veduvan' is earning special praise. On his role, Sooraj in 'Veduvan', Kanna Ravi shared that "I didn't take many references for the role. A character in the black comedy-drama 'Birdman' inspired me when I watched the film. I just incorporated it into me to play Sooraj. It's completely director Pawan sir's vision, and he shaped the film well and quickly. He was so keen on grasping every scene of the film, and he took his time to capture the right scene. Even though we finished the film in just 18 days, it's completely a team effort."
‘Coolie’ release sparks madness: Rajinikanth fans dance and flood theatres in Tamil Nadu
Kanna Ravi praises for co-stars and director’s guidance
Speaking about Sanjeev Venkat, who plays another main role in 'Veduvan', Kanna Ravi said, "Sanjeev anna is very dedicated, and he challenges himself.
Being experienced in the industry, he is so focused on delivering fresh roles. This inspires me, and we had a nice time working together." Sharing about other supporting stars, he said, "Sravnitha Srikanth, Vinusha Devi, Rekha Nair, Lavanya, and others, everyone believed in Pawan sir, like I did. Likewise, the director also perfectly shaped their scenes to keep their role weighted rightly."
A mindful Diwali and love for cinema
Moving on to Diwali and preparations for the festival, Kanna Ravi said, "I stopped celebrating years back. I feel worried about the air pollution made in the city during Diwali celebrations, and it's hard to travel in Chennai on Diwali night, even though half the people have left the city for their native. When I see that polluted atmosphere, I feel guilt as I have also made those pollutions years back. But now celebrating Diwali is enjoying new releases and having a favorite food with friends and family. I am preparing to watch 'Dude', 'Diesel', and 'Bison', and I am excited for it."
Heartfelt appreciation for Veduvan’s response
As 'Veduvan' streams this Diwali, Kanna Ravi feels this festive season is a special one. "I already celebrated Diwali when critics praised me and the team after the 'Veduvan' special premiere. Fireworks blasted loud in my heart through those cheering words."
'Coolie' actor spreads positivity this Diwali
Kanna Ravi, who played a main role alongside
Rajinikanth in 'Coolie', called the film a lifetime experience. But he didn't hesitate to hit back at trolls that flooded social media after the film's theatrical and OTT release. "I know Lokesh (Coolie director) Anna personally, he is a man of positivity, he never speaks or let anyone speak negatively about others. But I felt sad when he was trolled on social media, and it disturbed me a lot. Reviews should be the ones to develop or improve a cinema star; they should not degrade people and make them feel low." Let's avoid negativity and spread positivity this festival season, says Kanna Ravi to wrap up his conversation, sending Diwali wishes to fans.
